Town of Nantucket: dogs on beaches

Dogs must be leashed on all public property, including beaches, all year. The town's 2026 beach map says dogs are not permitted on beaches where lifeguards or endangered species habitat are present, but doesn't give the lifeguard season dates, so we haven't added Nantucket beaches to the map yet. Posted bird nesting areas are closed to dogs from April 1 to August 31.
