Gateway National Recreation Area: dogs on beaches
New York City and Sandy Hook, New York
No pets on the ocean-side beaches at Jacob Riis Park, Fort Tilden and Breezy Point, or the Sandy Hook ocean beaches, from March 15 to September 15 (piping plover season). Pets are allowed all year on the bay-side beaches at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove (Sandy Hook). Pets must always be leashed.
